Timo
Kämäräinen Bio
Born in Savo and Finland, Timo spent his early years listening to music
and banging
his mothers piano. He bought his first rock album in 1984, 'Lick It Up'
by Kiss.
First band called 'Tigers' was formed on those days. Timo played
keyboards and his friend Lasse was a drummer with a nice high-tech set
made of pillows. Timo still has some tapes including his own
songs recorded in 1985. After several animal-based band names Timo got
bored with 80's music and fell in love with The Beatles. First guitar
was bought in 1988, and soon after that he experienced a huge
rock'n'roll awakening with bands like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
Almost everything from 60's-70's era seemed interesting. In early 90's
guitar playing was definitely the biggest part of Timo's life. He had
gone through wide variety of musical styles before going to the high
school in 1995. He was very influenced by jazz and progressive rock
those days and listened musicians like Charlie Parker, Frank Zappa,
John McLaughlin and Pat Metheny, still adoring his old favorites
Beatles, Neil Young etc. At high school times he wrote lots
of
songs. Twist Off, a progressive rock band, was channel for his rock
songs meanwhile he was writing instrumental music. Many of those songs
are on his debut instrumental album, Unea.
After high school Timo moved to Helsinki and has been playing in many
top finnish groups. Styles have varied from experimental rock (Ismo
Alanko Säätiö) to free jazz (Pepa
Päivinen Quartet).
After working as a freelancer for a couple of years Timo wanted to aim
his energy to his own projects and so his solo album Unea and Beagon's
debut Countryside were released in spring 2005.
After that a lot has happened:
Unea got great reviews in Finnish media, one song from the album "City
Rally" was used as a theme song for a famous Finnish talk show.
Beagon's new album will be released in August 2007 and the first single
from the album, Face my fears, will be in webstores already on 13 June.
In May 2007 Timo played as a
soloist to the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and UMO Jazz
Orchestra.
Unea will be globally available
on ITunes and other webshops in June 2007. Also the new album of
Beagon, Traffic, will be globally distributed on webshops in August
2007.
